Project Preview: Contributing to the development of tourism in Tanzania

  • Country Tanzania
  • Sector Hospitality + Tourism
Your country has been identified as an emerging tourist destination. What do you do?

The National College of Tourism (NCT) in Tanzania partnered with experts, including Niagara College, to become a centre of excellence in tourism and hospitality training.

Together, we spent three years updating training programs so graduates’ skills aligned with industry needs. New courses, including in water sports, helped students tap into emerging tourism markets. The curriculum also included environmental stewardship, and human rights, particularly children’s rights, to ensure the sector’s sustainable and ethical growth.

Most importantly, meeting the demand for skilled tourism workers, and supporting private sector development and entrepreneurship would reduce poverty in Tanzania.
